Lalana Kagal
Lalana Kagal is a Principal Research Scientist at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab. She investigates the impact of digital technology on society and develops mechanisms for governing them. She leads the Decentralized Information Group (DIG) that focuses on topics at the intersection of technology, society, and policy. DIG research has led to multiple startups including Inrupt, which provides a decentralized Web architecture to give users control of their data, and more recently DynamoFL, which is YC-backed startup around federated learning. Lalana is an enthusiastic supporter of social impact innovation and works closely with initiatives such as MIT Solve to mentor social entrepreneurs from all around the world.
