The Decentralized Information Group (DIG) investigates the impact of digital technology on society and develops mechanisms for governing them. Our research includes decentralized AI, empowering data sovereignty, privacy preserving technologies, regulatory compliance, fairness, and transparency. DIG research has led to multiple startups including Inrupt, which provides a decentralized Web architecture to give users control of their data, and more recently DynamoFL, which is YC-backed startup around decentralized learning.
We are developing a general framework that enforces privacy transparently enabling different kinds of machine learning to be developed that are automatically privacy preserving.
