The Genesis Group focuses on developing an account of human intelligence with special
emphasis on developing computational models of how people tell, perceive and understand
stories.

The Genesis System understands, tells, and composes stories using models of human story processing. They Genesis Group studies topics such as story question-answering, summarizing, personality- and mood-base interpretation, and culturally grounded differences in interpretation. The Group's work involves common sense inverence rules and concept patterns, both expressed in simple English, along with 100 sentence summaries of stories drawn from, for example, Shakespeare's plots, legal analysis, political science, and psychological studies. Two of the group's current projects focus on hypothetical reasoning and on self-aware problem solving.
