Distinct neurodegenerative diseases such as typical Alzheimer's
disease (AD) or Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) exhibit different
dynamics of pathology progression in the brain. Understanding the
precise mechanisms of disease progression will enable us to create
informed drug treatments. Furthermore, quantifying the progression of
these diseases using specialised mathematical models will enable us to
stage subjects more accurately along the disease progression timeline,
which is important for assessing drug efficacy. In this presentation I
will talk about my work on developing novel disease progression models
and their applications to typical AD and PCA. Finally, I will
conclude with a few words on the TADPOLE challenge, which aims to
predict the progression of individuals at risk of AD.
