The lecture will survey what features of tissue that can be probed
with diffusion MRI once we abandon conventional encoding techniques in
favor of multidimensional diffusion encoding. The theory and
methodology of tensor-valued diffusion encoding will be studied in
detail, and results will be demonstrated from healthy brain and brain
tumors. Time permitting, the methodology will be put in a larger
context together with related advanced imaging methods.
