Tedrake Receives Tenure

Tedrake is the X Consortium Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT and leads the Robot Locomotion Group at CSAIL.

Shah Featured in The New York Times

Assistant Professor Julie Shah's work with developing new algorithms that allow robots to collaborate and adapt to the working preferences of their human co-workers, has been featured in The New York Times.

The article spotlights Shah's work with cross-training, a new method for enabling better interaction between humans and robots by allowing them to swap roles and learn from one another.

Shah leads the Interactive Robotics Group at CSAIL with the goal of developing innovative methods for enabling more fluid human-robot teamwork in high intensity domains-drawing on expertise in artificial intelligence, human factors, and systems engineering.

Winston Offering IAP on Speaking Skills

CSAIL Principal Investigator Patrick Henry Winston is hosting How To Speak this Friday from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. in room 6-120 as part of MIT's Independent Activities Period. The talk will offer attendees assistance with everything from lecture presentations to these defenses to oral exams and job interviews. During this course, Professor Winston will present a set of rules to follow when presented with a speaking opportunity.

Kagal Promoted to Principal Research Scientist

Dr. Lalana Kagal has been promoted to the role of Principal Research Scientist, effective July 1, 2013.

Kagal is the Deputy Director of the Decentralized Information Group at CSAIL. Her research focuses on modeling how social norms and legal rules work in society in order to automate the compliance of policy in information systems. She is currently exploring various facets of information management and policy, such as the development of new paradigms for exploring and integrating distributed data, privacy aware querying of big (linked) data, and frameworks for mobile applications for disaster management.
