Robert Katzschmann

Robert Katzschmann currently works at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Robert does research in the field of soft robotics. Robert works on designing, building and controlling soft robotic fish, soft grippers and soft manipulation arms. His projects span a wide range of control architectures: feedforward control for robotic fish and proprioceptive grippers; PID feedback control for multi-segment manipulator arms; model-based dynamic control for juggling robots, and pneumatic manipulator arms. Most recent work has been focused on realistically swimming soft robotic fish that can be deployed in the ocean and on model-based dynamic control to facilitate interactions between a soft robotic manipulator and the environment.
