Academic matters, including admission, orientation, registration, academic progress, and the awarding of degrees are for the most part administered by the various academic departments at MIT. CSAIL is most closely associated with the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department.

Information on the EECS Graduate Program, including the degree programs and academic requirements, can be found here: http://www.eecs.mit.edu/academics-admissions/graduate-program/graduate-office-materials

CSAIL also has students and faculty in Aeronautics and Astronautics, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, Mathematics, and Mechanical Engineering.

See the CSAIL web site for more information about lab researchers and their interests. Pages that may be useful:

  • CSAIL Principal Investigators Page- A listing of all the CSAIL PIs and links to their web sites.
  • CSAIL Communities of Research - Links to web sites for many of the research groups and research projects that CSAIL members are involved in.

If you want to know more about getting started with research, and what to expect to get done in your first year, check out the Research Area webpage.
