Daniela Rus named to French National Academy of Medicine

Daniela Rus, a distinguished computer scientist and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), has been honored with induction into the prestigious Académie Nationale de Médecine (ANM) as a foreign member on January 7, 2025. As the Director of MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), Daniela leads over 1,700 researchers in pioneering innovations to advance computing and improve global well-being.

In her acceptance speech, Daniela highlighted her passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in medicine. Her groundbreaking work spans critical areas such as developing AI systems to support surgeons and help prevent mistakes, innovating non-invasive surgical procedures, and democratizing access to proton therapy through robotic solutions.2025 inductees for the French National Academy of Medicine.

Daniela also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in medical research. Her leadership in organizing joint colloquia between MIT, ANM, and the Health Data Hub in 2020 and 2022 showcased the shared vision of France and the United States in advancing AI applications in medicine.
