Job Description

Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to perform comprehensive pre- (20%) and post-award (80%) financial research management.  Will coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of government, industrial, foundation, and other organizational proposals and ensure compliance with agency program announcement requirements and MIT’s policies and procedures; advise principal investigators (PIs) and project leaders on all aspects of research administration and implement their subsequent decisions; monitor the daily financial performance of grants and contracts to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies; and meet regularly with PIs to review resource plans and budgets.  Other tasks include preparing reports, financial analysis, forecasting, and other relevant information for the PIs; preparing and submitting forms and financial reports; monitoring/managing internal charge backs, payroll distribution, and certification; analyzing and tracking cost sharing and encumbrances; and ensuring the timely close out of grants.

 

Job Requirements 

REQUIRED:  Bachelor's degree; minimum of five years' experience in accounting or finance with decision-making responsibility; experience with federal contracts, i.e., terms and conditions, administrative rules, cost principals, and regulations under OMB guidelines; experience working with both pre- and post-award research administration and sponsored programs; knowledge of reporting requirements and procedures related to federal, state, and related grants, cost accounting, government accounting, and auditing; knowledge of grants, contracts, and applications and familiarity with electronic research administration requirements from various sponsoring agencies; knowledge of budget preparation and administration, financial recordkeeping, and reporting; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the Internet; knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; and strong financial management/forecasting, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.  Job #14731
