Biography

Peter "Kuan-Ting" Yu is a PhD student of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He received the degrees of B.S. in Computer Science from National Chiao Tung University, in 2010, Taiwan and M.S. in Computer Science from National Taiwan University, in 2012. He is now working with John Leonard and Alberto Rodriguez in mCube lab. He studies physical contact (e.g. pushing objects) to help robots to understand the physical world. His recent work: Shape and Pose recovery from Planar Pushing is accepted at IROS 2015.

Designing robots to improve people's lives has always been his career goal. He worked on perception problems in DARPA Robotics Challenge (2013-2015), and served as perception and software lead in Amazon Picking Challenge (Second Place, 2015). He is awarded second place in MIT Solve-a-Thon by proposing a wearable bend with sensors that helps detect pneumonia.
