Project transition from APT to CAD (1959)

January 1959: Design Division of MIT's ME Dept. "displayed considerable interest in automatic design." March: Visiting Prof. Laurel Lewis (ESL) and D.M.Baumann, Instructor (ME) chartered to study it. April: Seminar series for group discussions; May 8, "light pen" at console, sketch, refine, NC use discussed. June 16: Proposed $223,000 USAF AMC contract to ESL, including Design Division support, and 104 hrs.@$200 IBM 704 time (a first).
