In recent years no technology issue has drawn as much debate as data privacy, from revelations about government surveillance to major corporate data breaches.

The topic has spurred tough questions about the balance between access and privacy and how to use data to help solve problems without sacrificing anonymity.

At this week's SXSW Interactive technology conference in Austin, a group of cybersecurity experts from CSAIL - the place that birthed data-encryption, time-sharing and the first computer password - will discuss their work in data privacy and the biggest challenges for today‚Äôs computer scientists and privacy advocates.

The panel is Sunday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m. in Salon 8 of the JW Marriott (110 East 2nd Street), and will feature RSA encryption co-inventor Ron Rivest, former White House CTO for Internet Policy Daniel Weitzner, and big data professor Sam Madden.
