Our Atlas robot is back!

This week DARPA unveiled the new and improved Atlas robot that CSAIL's team will be using at this June's DARPA Robotics Challenge (DRC).

The DRC is an international competition in which research teams from academy and industry are trying to develop a fully-autonomous robot capable of assisting in disaster-relief scenarios.

The latest version of the robot, "Atlas Unplugged," is 75% new and now completely untethered, with a 3.7kWWh lithium-ion battery pack that can power the robot for an hour. Only the lower legs and feet have been carried over from the original design.
