Robots Hit the Runway

CSAIL’s PR2 robot, dubbed Emma, took a walk on the fashionable side in January, participating in The Phoenix’s Geek Chic fashion shoot. The shoot, which was held at CSAIL, featured technology inspired fashion by local designers, high-end designers and big name brands.

 

The PR2, developed by Willow Garage, is used as a research platform at CSAIL, allowing researchers to test new algorithms and techniques that allow robots to be more useful to humans without having to design a new piece of hardware for each experiment.
