CSAIL Members Invited to Inaugural Ph.D. Symposium

CSAIL members are invited to attend CSAIL’s inaugural Ph.D. Symposium to be held on Wednesday, June 5 at 1:00 p.m. in the Kirsch Auditorium (32-123). Through the Symposium, the lab aims to celebrate the achievements of CSAIL’s doctoral graduates and provide a forum for sharing the results of their thesis research with the CSAIL community and their families.

CSAIL’s PhD students have spent years conducting research that contributes to the understanding of computation and benefits the future of computing. During their time at CSAIL, students have conducted research in a wide variety of fields including distributed algorithms for robotic networks, software development, natural language processing, computer architecture development and 3D graphics, among many others.

Symposium attendees will hear from 14 of CSAIL’s doctoral graduates, a subset of this year’s total graduates who defended their theses between June 2012 and May 2013. Each student will give a 10-minute presentation explaining their thesis research. Ph.D. advisors and members of thesis committees will introduce each speaker and share stories about the students from their time at CSAIL. Immediately following the conclusion of the symposium there will be a reception to celebrate the work and achievements of CSAIL’s graduates at 5:30 p.m. in the R&D Commons on the fourth floor of the Stata Center.
