Web Science Trust Spreads Its Wings
|
Since its inception in 2006, the Web Science Trust (originally the Web Science Research Initiative) has been working to advance our understanding of the internet’s impact on society. A joint effort between CSAIL and the University of Southampton’s School of Electronics and Computer Science, the Trust is co-chaired by CSAIL principal investigators Tim Berners-Lee and Daniel Weitzner. Last week, the UK Charity Commissioners granted the Trust charitable status. The move will allow the Trust to raise its own funds and have a greater say in the course of its work. In a release from the University of Southampton, co-chair Wendy Hall says she sees the shift as a “coming of age” for the Web Science field. Read the rest of the release here. |
