Exploiting Texture-Motion Duality in Optical Flow and Image Segmentation

Speaker: Mike Ross , Learning and Vision Group - MIT AI Laboratory
Date: September 12 2000
Time: 4:00pm
Location: NE43-941

This presentation will describe an algorithm that combines color and motion information to produce superior optical flow and segmentation output. The algorithm's main contribution is its ability to exploit the duality of segmentation and flow information. In areas where color/texture segmentation is well-defined, optical flow is under-constrained, and vice-versa. I will present background information on both the optical flow and segmentation problems and describe the theory and the practice involved in the new algorithm.
