Over the last couple of years, many cryptographic schemes which had resisted attacks for many years were finally breached. Examples include the full AES (developed in 1997), the full Russian standard GOST (published in 1994), the full 3GPP cellular telephony scheme Kasumi (developed in the early 2000), etc. In this talk I will describe some of the new techniques used in these attacks, at a level which does not require any prior knowledge of cryptanalytic techniques.
