Person-centered location based computing Speaker: Chris Schmandt , MIT Media Lab Relevant URL: At the Speech + Mobility group in the Media Lab we have been building person-centered location systems for over a decade. These systems deal with location in terms that relate to our travelling habits and shared knowledge of landmarks, rather than street maps, such as "at the grocery store", "on the way to work", or "I'll be home in 10 minutes." This talk will survey the location-based systems for which we have built prototypes. Such systems can help us manage shopping, mind children, share location with family or others, make our commutes more pleasant, and perhaps help us keep our spending under control.
