In January 2005 Microsoft Research established a computer science lab
in India with a small team of five people and an initial focus on
technology for emerging markets. We have grown to a size of 60 and
have had over 300 interns during the last four years and now work in
seven different research areas. We have published over 200 research
papers and are involved in numerous technology transfers and other
initiatives with Microsoft product groups and business units. In
addition we also have a strong partnership program with the academic
community and the Indian government aimed at advancing the state of
computer science research in India. In this talk I will tell you
about some of the research done in our lab and how we work with the
external communities and give you an idea of what more is to come in
the immediate future.

For a quick preview of our lab, see www.research.microsoft.com/india.

Heritage demo.
