Abstract:
RNA plays a very central role in biological systems; its true influence
was recognized only recently. The talk presents approaches to the
alignment of RNAs. This is a challenging algorithmical problem since it
requires to take sequence and structure into account. Results of the
succesful multiple alignment tool LocARNA are discussed as well as an
algorithm that supports pseudoknots, which make the problem NP-complete,
in a fixed parameter tractable way.
