This is part of a regular MIT Lincoln Laboratory Seminar Series on Campus:

Abstract: Free-space optical communication for satellite applications is capable of providing extremely high-rate transmission over long propagation distances. Before lasercom technology is ubiquitously adopted for operational systems, however, significant challenges must be overcome, such as enabling low size/weight/power/cost terminals, efficient transmitter/receiver technologies, and the capability to efficiently process network packets.

In this talk, we will discuss integrated photonics technologies and their application in enabling next-generation free-space optical communication systems.
