CSAIL Event Calendar
Special Bioformatics Seminar: Exceptional Words CountingSpeaker: Mireille Regnier , Inria-FRANCE Date: Wednesday, October 29 2008 Time: 11:30AM to 1:00AM Refreshments: 11:00AM Location: 32-G575 TOC Lab Stata Center Host: Bonnie Berger & Peter Clote, MIT - BC Contact: Patrice Macaluso, 617.253.3037, macaluso@csail.mit.edu Relevant URL: http://www-math.mit.edu/compbiosem/We present two recent works to assess the significance of exceptional words, such as Transcription Factor Binding Sites in co-regulated genes. First, one designs AhoPro, a variant of a classical automaton, AhoCorasick. A nice feature is the possible assessment of the significance of a weak signal when exists a strong signal. Space requirement is minimized in a second approach, that relies on a so-called overlapping graph. Some applications to Drosophila regulation are presented.
