Research Assistant Opportunities

The following CSAIL Research Projects have expressed interest in potentially sponsoring a research assistant. Please contact the researchers involved in these projects directly.

Integrating "the deep web"

This NSF-sponsored project involves integrating "the deep web", i.e. those sites like weather.com, whose actual data is behind form-based interfaces and is not amenable to standard crawler technology, and building a query interface to the resulting system. Typing "Mike Stonebraker" into this resulting system should yield information about me from these diverse data sources. Filtering the result could be done using an RDF query language Sparkl, implemented on top of our data repository in Postgres. Current plan is to crawl looking for Javascript forms and then semi-automatically building wrappers that would be integrated into our existing prototype, Morpheus.
